Disney History The Walt Disney Company was founded on October 16th, 1923 by brothers Walt and Roy O. Disney. In the beginning, the company was formally named four different times, Disney Brother Cartoon Studio, The Walt Disney Studio, Walt Disney Productions, and Disney Enterprises, before taking on it's current name, Disney, in 1986. Although they both founded the company, Walt Disney was more of the creator and Roy O. Disney was the main person in charge when it came to making sure everything would be running financially stable. Before Steamboat Willie was born, Walt created Oswald The Lucky Rabbit before starting the Disney Company. This was Disney's first creation before many, many, many, others were created even after Walt and Roy's death. Disneyland park, or Disneyland, was one of two theme parks in Anaheim California alongside California Adventure and the only park designed and serviced under the eyes of Walt Disney himself.
